I'm a graduate of Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics at Heriot Watt University and have recently arrived back in Edinburgh after two years teaching English in France. I am currently searching for an actuarial job. Ideally I would like to be an actuarial trainee but I am also interested in Pensions Administration as a career. I'm looking forward to working in a position where I can apply both my technical skills in actuarial mathematics and the communication skills that I developed in France.
Through conversations with existing actuaries and research into the job I've found that people often stress the need for being able to express technical ideas in a non-technical way. People have considered teaching experience as invaluable in an actuarial role.
